Kevin’s Reversible Bird

Oil on Canvas Board        24 x 20        1983         Lake Ariel, PA
“One of those fun moments with friends. On a weekend to Lake Ariel, I awoke to find Kevin had made a mess of dark lines on my one remaining canvas board. So I carried on and sought to showcase his abstraction with a color field surround, at the time working horizontally. Eventually, we found ourselves standing over it on a table, viewing it from opposite ends vertically. He says to me that from where he was standing, it looked like a Pterodactyl. I said that from my side, it almost looked like a chicken. I then overpainted one of his strokes with the big blue eye, making it look slightly more like a chicken. Victory declared.”
